Draw Poker Rules

In recent years the televised games of Hold ‘Em have made it immensely popular, but the original home game of poker has always been draw poker. Unlike Hold ‘Em, draw poker is a very simple game that up to six players can play. Players are dealt all their cards face down. There are no community or face up cards. Players can also choose to drop cards they do not like and get new ones instead.

  • As mentioned before, each player gets five cards face down to make a hand.
  • As with other games of poker, blinds are posted by the two players to the left of the dealer.
  • Another similar rule comes in the calling and/or raising by the other four players in the hand.
  • Each player who has called through the initial betting phase can then drop anywhere between zero and five cards.
  • One last round of betting ends the hand.

The player with the best hand obviously wins the hand. The hands are revealed first by the player who was last to bet.

The Betting Rounds:
These rules may seem obvious, but like any other game of poker a player has four options when in a betting round:

Fold - If you are dealt a hand you cannot see ultimately winning the hand, feel free to much them and get out of the pot.
Check - If there is no bet made by another player, and you don’t wish to bet either, a check allows you to see the next round for free.
Call - If a bet or blind has been made that much be matched, a call means that you agree to bet the exact same amount raised before.
Raise - A raise is what it sounds like, you raise more chips into the pot then had been bet. This is done when you have a good hand or are trying to bluff usually.

The betting round does not end until all players either check or call or one person wins the pot by virtue of all others folding. If one betting rounds ends, then the next step of the game begins.
